Welcome to the TRC-ACHMM website!! We are moving forward in 2009!!
On behalf of the Three Rivers Chapter (TRC) of the Alliance of Hazardous Materials Professionals (AHMP), formerly the Academy of Certified Hazardous Materials Managers (ACHMM), I would like to personally welcome you to our website. 2009 has brought change to our organization and the TRC-ACHMM will also be looking into a name change as well (more to follow on this topic at a later date).
My three main objectives this year are: value for your dues and time, increased participation, and increased membership. I hope to facilitate an increase in event participation by all of our members which will allow us to develop a broad network of resources that is of benefit to us all. This year the Board will be forming a committee focused on engaging local college students, corporate partners, and other professionals in hopes of strengthening our membership base.
During the fall, I attended the National ACHMM conference in Minneapolis and was able to make contact with some willing presenters for 2009. We plan to present on current topics such as Sustainability and GHG, Risk-Based EHS&S Compliance Process Auditing, and PA’s Environmental Covenants Act. In addition to these contacts, we will begin soliciting suggestions for presentation topics via an online survey to poll our membership. We hope to develop a forum for TRC members to view or attend these sessions via the web or in person (depending on the venue).
Once again in 2009 we are planning a few social events focused on our beloved hometown sports teams (Penguins game, Pirates game, and a Steelers tailgate). We will also be looking to TRC members to volunteers for a CHMMunity event and to also assist the Southwest PA Household Hazardous Waste Task Force at one of their collection events in Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, Cambria, Washington, or Venango counties.
The Officers and Board Members are confident you will find that your TRC and AHMP memberships will open many professional doors for you as you take advantage of the local and national resources available through the TRC and the AHMP.
Through your participation in chapter activities, technical meetings, and networking events, we are confident that you will find, as we have, TRC membership to be professionally and personally rewarding.
Please check the schedule link for our next upcoming event and I hope to see you there. When you arrive, I will be there to personally welcome you to the TRC, and introduce you to other members with similar professional interests and goals. I guarantee you will start making new contacts right away.
