2009 CHMMunity Event - Volunteers Needed for Beaver County HHW Collection
Date of Event: 10/03/2009
Time of Event: 7am-2pm
The Saturday, October 3rd Beaver County Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) collection is a around the corner, and the TRC-ACHMM is recruiting volunteers. The SWPA HHW is planning for a decent showing of vehicles, so we would like to have a few TRC-ACHMM members to volunteer (most working the all day shift) to help adequately staff the event. Detailed event information and background on the Task Force can be found at www.swpahhw.org.
The TRC-ACHMM has been pre-authorized by the IHMM to offer 1 CMP per hour of active participation (i.e. 6 CMPs per full day shift and 3 hrs for half day shift). Please register for this event via our website to help track CHMM attendance at the event. In addition to registering with our website we ask you to please contact the HHW Coordinator Michael Stepaniak to be officially registered with the Task Force. Please contact Michael Stepaniak at michaels@ccicenter.org if you are able to volunteer. Michael will be emailing instructions for volunteers regarding the Beaver County event.
The collection will be held at at the recycling center in Bradys Run Park <http://www.co.beaver.pa.us/Recreation/brady.htm>. It is scheduled to run from 9:00 am till 1:00 pm. However, we will actually begin to unload vehicles at 8:00 am. The site is scenic and it's always been a very enjoyable collection to work.
There will be a brief training session for volunteers prior to the start of the event. Volunteer tasks will include directing traffic, taking surveys, handing out educational materials, and checking trunks. Volunteers will not unload vehicles. VOLUNTEERS WILL NOT HANDLE HHW OR UNLOAD VEHICLES.
The shifts run like this:
All day - 7:30 am till 2:00 pm
AM - 7:30 am till 11:30 am
PM - 10 am till 2:00 pm
Lunch, beverages, and Task Force t-shirts will be provided. And, new for 2008 - to show the Task Force's appreciation for our volunteers each will receive:
A $10 gift card (Task Force members not eligible)
Free disposal of HHW (up to 5 gallons, a $10 value)
