Household Hazardous Waste Task Force – Volunteers Requested

The Saturday, May 22nd Cambria County HHW collection is one week away and we still need a few volunteers to adequately staff the event.

The collection will be held at the Concurrent Technologies Corporation ETF Facility, which is located at 128 Industrial Park Road in Johnstown. Thanks once again to Concurrent Technologies Corporation for hosting the event! Event information can be found on the Task Force website.

The collection is scheduled to run from 9 am till 1 pm. However, we'll actually be ready to unload vehicles around 8 am. There will be a brief training session prior to the start of the event.

AM snack, lunch, beverages, and t-shirts will be provided. To show our appreciation, all collection event volunteers will receive the following free of charge:
• Breakfast and lunch
• SW PA HHW Task Force t-shirt
• Disposal of HHW (up to 10 gallons, a $20 value)
• Most importantly, that warm and fuzzy feeling that comes from helping out a good cause!

In addition, all 2010 collection event volunteers will be eligible to win a gift basket filled with items donated by local merchants - including overnight accommodations in the Pittsburgh area! (Please note that all SW PA HHW Task Force members, sponsors, and affiliates are ineligible.)

Volunteer tasks will include directing traffic, taking surveys, handing out educational materials, and checking trunks. VOLUNTEERS WILL NOT UNLOAD VEHICLES.

The shifts run like this:
• All day - 7 am till 2:00 pm (may not run that late)
• AM shift - 7 am till 11:30 am
• PM shift - 10 am till 2:00 pm (may not run that late)

If you haven't done so already, please contact Michael Stepaniak at the Pennsylvania Resources Council (contact info below) and let him know if you will be volunteering either all day or for a half-day shift. If you are an organization contact please forward this e-mail to your co-workers. Michael will need shift and contact information (name, phone #, and e-mail address) for each volunteer. Each volunteer will be sent detailed collection day information the week of May 17th.

Notice for CHMMs

The TRC-ACHMM has been pre-authorized by the IHMM to offer 1 CMP per hour of active participation (i.e. 6 CMPs per full day shift and 3 hrs for half day shift). Please register for this event via our website to help track CHMM attendance at the event.

CHMMs, to aid in tracking your participation, please register both in our website event listing AND with Michael Stepaniak to be officially registered with the Task Force.
