Professional & Internet Social Networking for Hazardous Materials Professionals
Date of Event: 09/21/2010
Time of Event: 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM

To: All CHMMs, EHS&S Professionals, and Other Interested Parties:

Please join us at Rolands in the Strip!!!

The TRC-ACHMM would like to extend an invitation for you to join us for a presentation from Mr. Rich Cartwright, P.E., CHMM, CPIM.

Presentation Abstract: "Essentials of AHMP Social Networking" We are currently in a period of a major tectonic shift in the methods and technologies used in professional communication. As hazardous materials professionals, we must learn these new concepts or be collectively left behind as a discipline.

Now is the time to learn about and begin utilizing new media for Social Networking. Your proactive decision to invest time and effort in the brave new world of Social Networking will probably be one of the best investments you will ever make during your career.

By definition, Social Networking is making personal contacts with other people. It is a way for your peers to know who you are and what value you bring to our hazardous materials profession. Essentials of how to increase your professional niche amongst your peers and stakeholders through use of social networking tools will be presented. By using Social Networking in the correct manner, you will increase the potential for becoming recognized within your organization and your industry. Note that recognition translates into value, which has a direct correlation with compensation.

These new communication methods are making past techniques obsolete. Rules of “how to play the game” are changing. Our traditional methods may be considered dull and archaic preventing us from developing the rapport needed with the next generation who use Social Networking techniques to the max. Note that the average CHMM today is almost 50 years old. If we don’t find a way to communicate and connect with the next generation of hazardous materials professionals, our AHMP membership will decline!

When: Tuesday, September 21st, 5:30 p.m.

Where: Roland's Seafood Grill and Iron Landing (http://www.rolandsseafoodgrill.com/)
1904 Penn Ave.
Pittsburgh, PA 15222
