The mission of our Chapter is to provide a balanced program for our members in at least the following five areas:
- Environmental Health and Safety
- Regulatory Compliance and Policy
- Science and Technology
- Hazardous Materials Handling, Emergency Response and Remediation
- Strategic Environmental Management
A common goal of all chapters is assist its members in being professionally
active so as to further develop awareness of the baseline competency of the CHMM.
As a Chapter of the Alliance of Hazardous Materials Professionals (AHMP -- formerly known as the ACHMM or Academy of Hazardous Materials Managers), the TRC-ACHMM is a non-profit organization which strives to foster and enhance
opportunities for professional growth by encouraging educational programs,
peer-group interaction, and the exchange of ideas and information relating to
environmental, health and safety, and hazardous materials management. In doing
so, environmental professionals and CHMMs will gain not only industry-wide recognition but also,
appropriately, legislative and regulatory recognition in the western
Pennsylvania region and nationally. Anyone interested in these topics can be a member of the Chapter and participate in our activities.
The Chapter acknowledges its role and responsibilities to meet and follow the Chapter Affiliation requirements of the AHMP, as well as the IHMM Code of Ethics for CHMMs. The Chapter promotes the Code of Ethics
to Chapter members and all CHMMs.
